At Waterford West State School we are commited to explicitly teaching students the personal and social capabilities of the Australian Curriculum so together we can creat a sense of belonging for all. By understanding brain development and that students come from various backgrounds we approach behaviour with a sense of curiosity. As adults it is important that we are regulated and calm so our students can be calm and feel safe.
Wellbeing Room
Our wellbeing room is a safe space where students learn about their brain and techniques to support regulation. It is based on the research of Dr Bruce Perry and is structured in a way that teaches students how to get back into their thinking brain.
Multi-Tiered Support
The school has a multi-tiered system of support structure so we can allocate resources according to beed so that all students have the level of support they deserve.
Restorative Practices
The school has partnered with Real Schools to develop a deep understanding of how to work with a restorative mindset so we are modelling to our students how to manage conflict in a safe and respectful manner.
