Book scheme

Waterford West will participates in a school book scheme, which is used by many State Schools and supported by your P&C Association. The scheme is voluntary.

The cost of being in the scheme is $100 for Prep and $90 plus $5 for art consumables. This one-off charge will provide all the equipment that the children will need at school throughout the year.

Normally, parents are required to purchase all the necessary requisites at the beginning of the year, and then constantly replace items as they are used, lost or damaged. Participating in the book scheme eliminates this ongoing process.

If parents choose not to join the scheme then they must supply all of their children’s requisites (i.e. all items on your child’s year level book list) at the beginning of the year and replace items as required. The $5.00 for Art consumables is still payable.  This money goes directly to your child’s class to pay for art and cooking supplies used throughout the year.

Those who join the scheme and experience difficulty in making payments should contact the Principal to discuss alternative arrangements. A receipt will be issued for all payments made to the school. Payment in full is required by the end of term each. Payments may be made in full or on a regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Participating in the book scheme means that children have all books etc when they are needed. The scheme works on the premise that the school retains ownership of all equipment and that the students have use of it whilst at school.

Please Note: Those families who have outstanding amounts owing for the book scheme at the end of the previous year will not be invited to participate in the scheme for the following year until the outstanding account is finalised.

Money is collected each Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the front office between 8.15 am and 11.00 am. EFTPOS is also available. We ask that you have correct money as we do not keep cash on the premises. If money is being sent in with your child, please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name, class, amount enclosed and what the money is for.
